Copy Doctoring (aka Copywriting)
The Grammar Doctor spent 10 years in higher education marketing before beginning this venture, so she knows how to appeal to a diverse, discerning audience in a competitive marketplace. As a busy professional, you may know what you want to say but lack the time to actually put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) to get it down. TGD works with you as a trusted partner in the writing process, helping you to define your message, audience, and tone, and then build an outline and write content that is on target with what you want to say. Along the way, you'll learn techniques to better share your message and likely a bit about marketing.
Proofreading & Copyediting
So you have your words down on paper for your Web site, blog, article, term paper, or novel, but you've looked at it so often that "the" seems as if it's spelled incorrectly. When we put our blood, sweat, and tears in words, it's challenging to remove ourselves enough to see the subtle errors. As a companion to your writing process, TGD will read your material for errors (using the Chicago manual unless otherwise requested) in spelling and grammar as well as make suggestions to improve depth, clarity, and readability. If it's important enough for you to share it with the world, you should be certain it's flawless and says what you meant for it to say. TGD helps that happen.

The ProcessAll writing and editing clients are invoiced twice monthly based on the per-hour fee of $100 per hour for copy doctoring and $35 per hour for proofreading and copyediting. If you are interested in working with The Grammar Doctor, please e-mail or fax your project to receive a contract for services. For editing, turnaround time is 24-48 hours from receipt of contract. Average speed is four pages per hour for two reads to catch technical and content errors. For copy doctoring, an initial, gratis consultation will be scheduled to determine your needs and timeline, with billable hours tracked thereafter. The Grammar Doctor accepts most forms of payment.
